And that, really, is whatDRGis: an endless romp through a lot of the same motions, only with an ever-shifting catalog of different maps, challenges, and customizable features.

Deep Rock Galacticis all rather simple to understand: you embark on a mining expedition on an alien planet, and carve deeply into the roots of a loot-stuffed network that’s equally teaming with spiders and hatchlings as it is with jewels, ores, and other priceless artifacts. The ultimate goal, in short, is to evolve your dwarven miner to tackle even greater exploits, and survive long enough to earn the title of one of the greatest in the business, period. The question is, how deep will you need to travel in order to claim such bragging rights?

If it’s crude humor and a vivid clone of Rick & Morty that you’re on the market for, then you needn’t look any further thanHigh on Life,Squanch Games’ ludicrously crafted first-person shooter that just so happens to capture all of the same crass dialogue of Adult Swim’s cult phenomenon, as well as the high-octane shenanigans of, say,Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.That’sHigh on Life,in a nutshell, and it’s arguably one of the strangest games to ever grace the Xbox Game Pass storefront.

It goes like this: you’ve found yourself washed ashore on the surface of an alien planet—a world in which guns talk, aliens fart, and the local fauna is as deadly as the silent squeakers of your closest extraterrestrial neighbors. As one of the only humans, you must embark on an epic quest to unearth an arsenal that’s fit for a king, and wage war with a ravenous alien species in order to locate a back door that leads back to your home planet. It’s a weird journey, we’ll give it that, but one that’s equally as memorable, all the same.
